Are You Interested in a Speaking Engagement?
The Community Relations committee has spent time over the past year and a half developing the ASTD-CI Speakers Bureau. Many of you have stepped up to volunteer as speakers, and we appreciate it.
What we really need now is to spread the word. Committee members from the last couple years have made contact with area professional groups and Chambers, but we need to keep up the informal contacts and reminders.
If you know Chamber or other civic organization leaders, won't you please let them know? We have a list of topics that local Chamber leaders helped develop, so the content is relevant, actionable, and free of sales pitches.
- We are pretty well stocked with speakers - though we still could use people who could offer expertise on these topics:
- Making Room for Training in Time and Budget
- Social Media - How it Can be Used to Train Employees
- Empower Yourself, and Your People – A Guide for Taking Risks and Working through Common Barriers to Success
Please click here to email Sarah Noll Wilson if you can offer a 20-50 minute program on one of those three topics. Organizations we've served so far include the Iowa Chapter of the International Association of Business Communications, and Chambers of Commerce in Altoona and Clive. If you know Chamber leaders, please let them know of this service. The full list of topics can be downloaded here.
Annual “Training Trends” Survey Results are In
Central Iowa ASTD and ATW Training & Consulting recently collaborated to conduct the annual “Training Trends” survey which is designed to provide insight into the state of our local learning and development industry. We will be presenting an in-depth look at the results and how they compare to years past during the November Networking Connections meeting. In the meantime, you may download a PDF version of the results here.
ATW Training Offers Advice on Building a Trusting Organization
According to a recent survey only 39 percent of employees trust their senior leadership. Yet trust goes hand-in-hand with issues such as employee retention, productivity and quality. Why isn’t more being done to build trust? Some believe that it’s too “touchy-feely”, yet others can’t find a way to measure it so they set it aside. Click here to learn more.
When employees don't meet expectations,
who's to blame? Likely, their managers.
Low-accountability cultures are fertile ground for problems. From minor infractions …to major violations…, the biggest problem isn’t the infraction. It’s the silence. Click here to find out more.
