Department Leader Updates - January 2012
Cheryl Conner - Programming
This year the Programming Committee has an exciting new look. We will be planning one to three major programs. Be prepared to experience the enthusiasm of nationally known presenters who will be speaking on topics that are relevant to today’s business environment, and employee growth and development. If you have any questions or want to volunteer to work with any of our programs, please contact Cheryl Conner by clicking here.
Alan Feirer - Strategic Partnerships
In 2012, we will focus on engaging partnerships that enhance the member experience. We are forming the committee at this time, and have goals that include some all-encompassing professional development opportunities that meet the needs of all members. We will seek to solidify our relationships with similar organizations, such as SHRM, while expanding our network in new directions, such as local Chambers of Commerce. Suggestions? Totally welcome - I'm brand new in this role. Shoot me an email anytime.
Austin Johnson - Workplace Learning
We wrapped up a successful 2011 with our second WLP Awards. Congratulations to all the winners from both events. As we move into 2012, we will begin to focus on the CPLP program, along with developing plans for Employee Learning Week, and another WLP Awards. I look forward to a year of learning in 2012!
Bryan Slauson - Professional Development

Sara Giesler - Networking
As the 2012 VP of Networking, my goal is to provide the Central Iowa ASTD members with outstanding networking opportunities. We will continue to offer monthly chapter meetings, which will be known this year as Chapter Networking Connections. We plan to provide speakers and topics that are informational and relevant to today’s learning and performance professionals. The networking committee will also find additional social events that will allow our chapter members to meet and network.

Steve Couchman - Website / Technology
Just some quick tips this month for the website -
-Your password does not expire, once you choose it there is no need to change it
-Please watch the expiration dates when registering for events. Many events registration close the day before the event, and registration will only be allowed for non-members. This is done because many of the locations we use require a list of participants sent to their corporate security office 24 hours in advance. If you are a member and getting non-member registration only, the registration has most likely closed.
-We do not have access to your password, nor do we update your personal information. We leave this up to the member to take care of this. If you have logged into the website, just click View Profile and you have access to update your personal information.
Dee Oviatt - Operations
The focus for Operations in 2012 will be to continue our due diligence with our budget, and continued compliance with the CORE requirements from National ASTD. It is important for our chapter to not only be strong financially, but strong in meeting the expectations of the national organization.
